[May 1, 2002] May Day
The Bassett Street Hounds make their eighteenth appearance at May Day celebrations in Syracuse, NY. This is the one event for which all of the current dancers, and occasionally inactive members of the team, can be counted upon, and even demand, to dance. May Day was first celebrated in 1981 by Thornden Morris as their first public performance. They were continuing a revival of the May Day celebrations first begun by morris teams in England and America in the 1970s. This is Thornden's twenty second May Day! We are joined, as in recent years, by Ribbonsteel Rapper, Heartwood Morris of Ithaca, NY and Griffin's Corners Morris.
