XUL: XML User interface Language
The Dynamically Typed blog's latest entry, "Web based XUL Filemanager" talks about Mozilla's XUL Filemanager. XUL, in case you haven't heard, is XML User interface Language. XUL lets you build Web applications that are extremely lightweight and offer graphical user interfaces that look and work like their desktop-bound cousins. The only disadvantage of the technology is that it currently requires a Mozilla-based browser (Mozilla or Firefox) to run. Although I haven't really made up my mind about XUL Filemanager, I do like another XUL application, the Mozilla Amazon Browser, which was described by O'Reilly's Case Study of the Mozilla Amazon Browser. It's pretty slick; in one interface, you can search Amazon.com, .co.uk, or .jp.
