Andrew M. St. Laurent, author of Understanding Open Source and Free Software Licensing has a series of articles on Open Source and Free Documentation Licenses on OnLAMP. The first part covers the GNU Free Documentation License. In addition, chapter 2 of his book, "The MIT, BSD, Apache, and Academic Free Licenses," is a available as a free pdf download from the O'Reilly website. Part two of the series part 2 covers Open Publication Licenses such as those developed by the Creative Commons and Open Content. Part 3 covers Open Gaming Licenses.
