Java for Spiders

I've been reading Spidering Hacks by Kevin Hemenway and Tara Calishain the past few days, so I was interested (intrigued by the synchronicity of these things) by Blane Warrene's Open Sourcery Blog mini-review of J-Spider, an open source spider written entirely in Java that can be configured extensively for spidering, error checking and downloading. I'm going to have to look into this once I've wrapped my head around the concepts.
