Wikipedia -- Can Open Source Be A Good Source?
(Via LISHost) Once again, a library from my hometown makes a dubious contribution to the library world. In an article in the Syracuse Post-Standard, a Liverpool, NY school librarian says that Wikipedia, a popular online encyclopedia built by a community of web users, is not an authoritative source and is therefore untrustworthy. She seems to have missed the point that entries are checked and double-checked by a community of editors, many of whom have the requisite credentials to be considered experts.
